Scope Of Role
As an IT specialist at GIZ, your primary responsibility is to ensure the proper functioning and operation of IT and management systems in accordance with industry best practices. You will play a vital role in implementing and adhering to GIZ’s IT standards and recommendations, guaranteeing the smooth operation of our technological infrastructure.

- Ensuring the availability of up-to-date hardware, such as laptops, servers, and PCs, in compliance with current GIZ standards.
- Managing the maintenance of PCs, notebooks, printers, digital cameras, scanners, and other hardware, as well as maintaining network and hardware documentation.
- Implementing, maintaining, and configuring all standard GIZ software, including Microsoft 365, WinPACCS, and SAP.
- Setting up new user accounts and profiles, addressing password issues, and maintaining and updating existing websites.
- Taking responsibility for the availability of the local area network (LAN), including installing updates, performing routine maintenance on necessary hardware, and managing the LAN.
- Monitoring internet connection performance, devising strategies for bandwidth management, and configuring the firewall.
- Managing and overseeing the general administration of the entire IT system.
- Reporting fundamental issues with GIZ IT applications to the GIZ IT help desk.
- Maintaining a comprehensive list of all hardware and software systems, regularly updating it to reflect changes, backing up data, and addressing data security concerns.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a similar position, preferably with current IT industry certifications (e.g., MCSE, MCP, CCNP).
- Excellent knowledge of IT hardware and software, computer network systems, database software, and network security.
- Ideally, familiarity with GIZ systems and specific GIZ software (SAP, WINPACCS, etc.).
- Experience in IT user management, IT Helpdesk Support, and customer relations is advantageous.
- Strong command of the English language (both written and verbal); knowledge of German is a plus.
- Effective presentation, communication, and reporting skills, with the ability to explain complex technical details in a simple business context.
- Good time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong team orientation, cooperation, and negotiation skills.
- Proactive attitude towards personal growth and adaptability to institutional changes.
- Demonstrating result-oriented performance and willingness to take on responsibilities.
- Willingness to enhance skills as required by the tasks at hand, with corresponding measures agreed upon with management.
